According to CNN General Robin Rand, head of US Air Force Strike Command, has said that 14 junior enlisted airmen from Francis.E.Warren Air Force base Wyoming have been suspended and are under investigation for drug use. The airmen are part of the 90th missile wing which has 1300 men assigned to security roles. This missile wing operates 150 minutemen III intercontinental ballistic missiles. The junior airmen’s job is to guard the missile fields and launch facilities as well as perform law enforcement on the base.
RT reports that General Rand said “It came to light because one airman who had suspicion of drug activity by another reported that to his chain of command”.
Previously The US Air Force under Defence Secretary Chuck Hagel had investigated officers in charge of actually firing the missiles for drug use. This led to the investigation finding that a number of missileers of the 341st missile wing had cheated on their proficiency tests at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Montana. 79 officers were disciplined and 15 of them were discharged from the military.
Activist post reports that the missileers also pleaded guilty to using ecstasy. It doesn’t end there. Major General Michael Carey who is commander of the 20th Air Force and responsible for overseeing 450 intercontinental ballistic missiles, was frequently rude to his counterparts, socialised with suspicious foreign women, and become so drunk while leading a US delegation to Russia that he needed help standing and tried to play with a band at a Mexican restaurant in Moscow. He was fired in October 2013. In August 2013 Colonel David Lynch, the commander of the 341st missile wing was fired due to loss of confidence in his ability to lead.
So these are the people who the US citizens rely on for their safety and protection. Thanks but No thanks. It will be interesting to see how much air time this new story involving 14 airmen gets on mainstream media. If it was a Russian sports star the mainstream media would be all over it. In other related drug using sport people news the newly crowned AUSTRALIAN heavyweight champion, Lucas Browne, has tested positive for clenbuterol. According to the ABC he is seeking legal advice and doesn’t understand the news of his failed urine sample. Nothing in the ABC story about him being a drug cheat which is usually the norm if he was from another country or not on our team.
