Russia is to create 3 new defence divisions in the western direction with re-equipping the armed forces up from 47% to 51% and operable hardware to rise from 89% to 92%.
This from the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federations website;
‘According to him [sergei shoigu], taking into consideration complicated international situation, it was essential to assess capabilities of the Russian Armed Forces on protecting national interests at the Southeastern strategic direction. Forces and troops are to practice cooperating in mountainous terrain taking into account increase of terrorist threats in the region’.
He also added (importantly);
‘In accordance to the Russian Defence Minister, it is necessary to strengthen and develop military cooperation with allies and partners’.
This is constantly reiterated by President Putin that they want partners not enemies but the western mainstream media seem to miss the point.
The ABC news online (Australia) state in their re-hashed story from Reuters in regards to Russia adding 3 new divisions that ‘he did not explain the [motivation] for forming the new divisions...’
The motivation point that is left out more than likely comes from NATO/US moving their bases closer toward Russian borders even after they told Russia this would not happen, as well as huge military drills by NATO near Russia’s borders. The NATO/US alliance then blames Russia for aggression. Does NATO think Russia is moving its borders?
The same ABC/Reuters report suggests the Russian military helped annexe Crimea after the US led coup of Ukraine. With 95.7% of Crimean’s voting to join Russia and people on the streets of Crimea cheering for Russia I don’t think the military did help annexe Crimea.
RT news online reports that President Putin signed a military doctrine in December 2015 that especially notes that the build up of military and arms by NATO poses a security threat to Russia.
In President Putin’s interview with the German newspaper Bild he suggests that after the fall of the Berlin wall an invisible wall has moved eastward and the then Secretary General of NATO in 1990 said that NATO would not move eastward. The 2 part transcript of the interviews with Bild can be read here.
So it seems that if the ABC (Australia) had done some journalism they would have found out the motivations just like I have done. The western mainstream media need to stop their Russia bashing and report some real facts such as the US dollar is dying and the US will do anything it takes to save it.
