Here we go again, back to Christmas Island to be used for the growing of medicinal marijuana. It looks like the Islands administrator has pushed hard to allow Auscann to grow there. According to the ABC Murdoch University has debunked the myth that the island is unsuitable for agriculture. Wow! How convenient. I wonder how many people would have liked to have an agricultural business on the island before now. Maybe now they can grow their own crops without relying on imports which bring the price of a lettuce to $16. Their work looks to have gained the Murdoch University the rights to be the research arm of Auscann. Nothing suss here.
If we had a referendum on the vote in Australia to legalise the use of medicinal marijuana I would have voted NO. Even though the use of marijuana as a medicine is very much needed the NO vote would have been for the same reason that Ohio in the USA voted NO. The reason being is to stop a monopoly occurring.
Do we have already, or are we heading in the direction of a monopoly in this industry? You be the judge.
