The October unemployment rate is out. Employment increased, unemployment decreased, and the unemployment rate decreased from 6.1% to 5.9%. Are they serious?
With all the changes that have been made to the way the statistics are counted it’s no wonder everything looks rosy. They now count a 15 year old schoolie with part time work as employed for example, yet a 15 year old without part time work isn’t counted in the labour force because well, they’re schoolies. If you’re unemployed and haven’t been for an interview in the month of October then you’re not counted. That will make the figures look better.
I can get the result I want from a simple survey even though something is shit. For example; is this website --- excellent_, very good_, or good_. (Leave a tick in the space provided).
There are a lot more Employment Providers on the block now also. So there is some full time work for them to look after the unemployed. There are more aged care facilities popping up too. And then there’s the governments EARN or LEARN program which takes away the unemployed who would normally be counted but are not counted as they are undergoing training with training organisations. There’s some jobs created for the trainers.
And let’s not forget there are more changes to come which will be needed. The government are not really creating any substantial jobs that don’t involve a service. Any manufacturing or construction jobs that are created is not really creating jobs but adding work to the company’s who are already doing the manufacturing and constructing. So in essence these sectors are retaining most of their current workers.
Meanwhile Australian bonds aren’t doing so good.
